Mr Arindam Brahma
MSc Mechanical Engineering - University of Nottingham, UK
Biography
Arindam Brahma is currently working as a PhD candidate (UoA Doctoral Scholarship) in the Mechanical Engineering department at the University of Auckland. He holds a Master of Science (Distinction) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham, UK with subjects predominantly from the field of manufacturing. There he was awarded the University of Nottingham Developing Solution Masters Scholarship by the University. Arindam graduated from Manipal University, India with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has also worked as a technical services engineer in Larsen and Toubro Ltd. in the Sultanate of Oman for 2.5 years. Besides his research, he is a keen hobbyist, with interests in areas like macro-economics, physics, theology, music, photography etc.
Arindam joined the University of Auckland as a PhD Candidate in 2016 and is a member of the Design and Development Research Group, under the supervision of Dr. David Wynn.
Research | Current
Arindam has broad interests in Engineering Change Propagation assessment methods and mechanisms and is currently focused on using Design Margins as a way of addressing the problem of knock-on effects of design change. As a part of his research Arindam is developing a modelling and analysis method which could be used to analyse margins in design and provide support to design engineers and managers in decision making. The method aims to help designers analyse whether design margins can be made to act as change absorbers and how they otherwise affect product performance.
