Biography
Cynthia Orr is employed by the school of Curriculum and Pedagogy in the Faculty of Education and Social Work as a professional teaching fellow.
From 2017-2019, Cynthia was employed by the Woolf Fisher Research Centre as a facilitator with the Manaikilani Outreach clusters.
Cynthia is an accredited professional learning and development facilitator.
From 2012-2016 Cynthia was National English coordinator and a lead facilitator within the Secondary Student Achievement Contract at Team Solutions, the Faculty of Education, The University of Auckland. The National Coordinator role involved providing a strategic overview of the English learning area and also support for regional facilitators in their professional development work with middle leaders. She worked in association with Ministry of Education officials and with NZQA national moderators to keep up to date with effective teaching, learning, and assessment practices in English.
As a lead facilitator from 2014-2016, Cynthia was part of the Team Solutions leadership team and also offered regional workshops and clusters for middle leaders as well as working in-depth providing focused support around senior secondary achievement, in selected schools in Auckland and Northland.
Prior to working at the University of Auckland Cynthia was Director of English at Avondale College and Head of English at Papakura High School.
