Biography

Naomi is a Research Fellow at the Woolf Fisher Research Centre, a trained secondary teacher and currently undertaking doctoral research at the University of Auckland. Her teaching background is in English and Information Technology, and as an in-school Literacy Co-ordinator. Especially interested in how digital literacies and text literacy mediate inequities for low-socioeconomic communities, her PhD study investigates how children’s 1-to-1 digital practices influence their learning in classrooms and out-of-school settings. This work places particular emphasis on how teachers, parents and Web 2.0 affordances, particularly DLO (Digital Learning Object) creation can support enhanced student achievement and parent involvement.

Research | Current

Naomi's current research work is in primary and secondary low decile schools and focuses on the development of young people's 21st century skills and achievement in 1:1 digital learning environments.
