Dr Dan Furkert
PhD
Biography
Dan gained his PhD in chemistry in 2003 (UoA), followed by NIH postdoctoral fellowships at Oregon State University (USA) working on natural product total synthesis, and then in the Dept of Pharmacy & Pharmacology at the University of Bath (UK) investigating novel opioid receptor ligands for treatment of drug abuse.
He returned to UoA in 2010 to take up his current position as team leader of Dist Prof Margaret Brimble's organicsynthesis labs.
Research | Current
Current research themes include organic synthesis directed towards natural products and drug discovery, development of improved chemical methods to access biologically relevant structures, and medicinal chemistry focused on TB, cancer and neuropharmacology.
Teaching | Current
Lectures in CHEM330, CHEM730
