Mr James M McIntyre
Bachelor of Education; Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning; Post Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership and Management; Master of Professional Studies (Education) 1st Class Honours
I am a PE Mentor working on the Play.Sport project in conjuction with Team Solutions and Sport New Zealand.
I trained at the University of Canterbury and the Christchurch College of Education. I moved to Auckland after graduation and a few years later married a local girl and have been up here ever since. I have spent the last 13 years teaching in the secondary sector, boys' school specifically.
Studying for my Masters resulted in a newfound enthusiasm for the Health & PE curriculum and for making positive experiences in physical activity for everyone. I have really enjoyed moving into the primary space with Play.Sport and have learned so much already from primary teachers. I am enjoying being part of a great team and the challenge to influence teaching practice.

My secondary teaching experience included teaching not only Health and PE but Outdoor Education and some English. During this time, I was heavily involved in programme development and senior assessment in PE and Outdoor Education. I also gained a lot of experience from coaching and administering sports at a school level including: touch, rugby, basketball, volleyball, athletics and cricket.
