Mr Reza Sedehi

Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering With First Class Honours


Reza is a Doctoral Candidate at The University of Auckland (UoA) engineering school and Auckland Bioengineering Institute (ABI), specialising in electronics, power electronics as well as communication systems. During his final year at UoA, Reza and his project partner designed a smart parking system operating on inductive power lines with communication capabilities. Reza is also honoured to be on the Dean’s honours list for the final three years of studies at the UoA as well as on top 5 teams for every single electronics project.

Reza has been working and researching in wireless power industry for over a year and served as a team member of PowerbyProxi developing state of the art wireless power products. Reza has been involved in wind industry for the last six years and has gained valuable experience working on 10k to 100 MW projects. In July of 2016, he was employed by 3i innovation, designing and commissioning on-road lighting as well as smart city signs operating on inductive power transfer. Prior to that, he worked as part of the Tru-Test group’s R&D team, a high-tech New Zealand company that makes Electronics Products for Livestock Management focused on fence and security energizers. Reza also served as a part time consultant for RTL (the largest New Zealand’s traffic product manufacturer). He enjoys leadership as he had been a high school Physics and Mathematics tutor for 4 years from 2013 to 2017 and has mentored and taught over 50 students. Reza works effectively towards his goals and enjoys working as part of a large team. He sees every day as a new opportunity for himself and difficult challenges motivate him.

Reza is a passionate engineer and entrepreneur who wishes to learn innovative concepts in wireless power technologies. 

Research | Current

My research focuses on Capacitive Power Transfer for implantable devices at Auckland Bioengineering Institute.

I am also interested in design of low power (<30 W) wireless power products for consumer electronics, robotics and industrial applications.
