Professor Phillippa Jane Poole

Biography

A medical graduate of the University of Auckland and a specialist general physician at Auckland City Hospital, Professor Phillippa Poole is currently Head of the Department of Medicine at her alma mater. Prior to this she was the head of the medical programme for nearly 10 years.

Research | Current

I have two main reseach themes

1. Shaping a medical workforce for future health needs, including determinants of medical student career choice, and effect of gender on career. I am the Auckland lead for the NZ Medical Schools Outcomes Database and Longitudinal Tracking Project (MSOD). 2. Cochrane Reviews of interventions in COPD, working with the Cochrane Airways Group of the Cochrane Collaboration.
