The Swedlund lab is dedicated to the spectroscopic study of adsorption reactions at the aquatic-metal oxide interface. We predominantly use Attenuated Total Reflectance FTIR and I am especially interested in the reactions of silicates on metal oxide surfaces and their relation to aquatic chemistry, treatment of industrial waste water and the development of silica scale in geothermal power stations.
