Biography

Energy Education Trust of New Zealand Professor of Energy & Resource Economics, Director of The Energy Centre and Associate Dean Postgraduate. His research interests span the field of energy and resource economics, economics of the environment, and law and economics. He has a specific interest in the application of economics and econometric methods to contemporary resource and environmental problems. His current research focuses on renewable energy, contract design under uncertainty, rights based systems of governance and spatial modelling.

Assessment of solar energy potential in Auckland, optimal contract design involving a wind farm and land owner, energy efficiency and spatial modelling of hazards.

Postgraduate supervision

I am currently supervising PhD topics in: application of CGE models to climate change & energy conservation; stochastic frontier models of cross country energy efficiency; dairy farmer nutrient management practices; and New Zealand's gas market.
