Dr Doug James Wilson

Biography

Dr Douglas Wilson is a Senior Lecturer in Transportation Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and a founding member of the Transportation Research Centre (TRC) at the University of Auckland, New Zealand.

Current responsibilities include lecturing at both undergraduate and graduate levels in:

  • Highway geometrics
  • Pavement design
  • Road safety engineering
  • Skid resistance
  • Road management systems
  • Infrastructure asset management.

He also supervises a number of students undertaking research.

Douglas Wilson has extensive engineering and industry consulting experience (over 15 years) working for private engineering consultants, and local and central government engineering agencies spanning both technical design positions and in the management of projects and engineering and support staff. Doug’s consulting experience has primarily been in the area of transportation and traffic engineering design and three years in the area of water, wastewater and environmental engineering.

He has more than ten years lecturing experience at the University of Auckland in transportation and traffic engineering. His various research interests range from road safety, pavement surface characteristics, road condition equipment testing to laboratory testing methods and pavement materials.
