Biography

Girish received a Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering from the Manipal Institute of Technology, India in 2010 and a Master of Engineering in Bioengineering from the University of Auckland in 2013 after briefly working in the medical devices industry.
 

Research | Current

Characterization of fibrosis and its functional role in atrial fibrillation

In this research project, key features of 3D tissue architecture will be characterised in the normal atria and in atria with interstitial and patchy fibrosis due to permanent atrial fibrillation and heart failure. Image-based modelling will then be used to investigate how structural remodelling and fibrosis contribute to altered impulse propagation in atrial fibrillation.
