My current research involves the development of an astrocyte specific adeno-associated viral (AAV) gene therapy technology. The particular focus of this project is to insert genes into damaged spinal cord tissue that function to break down components of the extracellular matrix in efforts to allow for neurons to regrow and restore functional connections.
