Mrs Jessica Maree McLay

Biography
Jessica has been a practicing statistician for 9 years. She has been with the Statistical Consulting Centre for 6 years. Prior to this, she worked as a statistician and statistical programmer at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne.
Jessica provides statistical advice and assistance to other departments and schools within the University. She works most commonly with staff and students from the Business School and the School of Psychology, but has helped people from all over the university. Jessica is also available for consulting jobs external to the University, usually taking smaller sized external projects. Recent external work includes analysis for the Hearing House, the Deafness Notification Database, and Snowberry.
Jessica’s expertise:
- Linear models: including regression models of all types (linear, generalised, logistic, Poisson, negative binomial), mixed models (random effects), and analysis of categorical data and survey data.
- Simulation in R
- Questionnaire and survey design
- Structural equation modelling
Jessica also spends a lot of time with the COMPASS Research Centre (Faculty of Arts) where she has primarily done R programming for simulation projects
