I completed a degree in Geography at Humboldt Universität Berlin, Germany. The research for my Diplom thesis at the German Centre for GeoSciences focused on isotopes in the tree rings of swamp kauri as a tool for climate reconstruction.

My PhD research focuses on tree-climate interactions in New Zealand kauri forest. I am investigating water and carbon relations in four endemic tree species (kauri, tanekaha, totara and rewarewa) at the Huapai scientific reserve.
