Biography

Associate Professor Jennifer P. Craig is a therapeutically qualified academic optometrist in the Department of Ophthalmology.  Her main research interests include dry eye and tear film dysfunction, since completing her PhD in this area, in 1995, at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland, as well as cornea, contact lenses and refractive surgery. She currently heads the Ocular Surface Laboratory at the University of Auckland and regularly delivers continuing education and research lectures internationally, as well as publishing in both the scientific and clinical press.  She is co-author of the book ‘The Tear Film’, has authored and co-authored a number of book chapters, and contributed to the Tear Film and Ocular Surface (TFOS) International Workshop on Meibomian Gland Dysfunction. More recently, she served as an invited member on the Steering Committee for the TFOS International Workshop on Contact Lens Discomfort and as Chair of the Workshop Subcommittee on “Contact Lens Interactions with the Tear Film”, the results of which have been published in the scientific journal, Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science. In 2015, Jennifer has been appointed Vice-Chair of the global initiative DEWS II (Dry Eye Workshop II), which will update the original DEWS report of 2007.  Initial results of this collaborative Workshop are due to be presented at the triennial TFOS Conference in 2016 in Montpellier, France.
