I was a journalist, teacher, writer and public relations professional before joining the PhD programme at University of Auckland. I have published a novel and host an Apple fan podcast. I have lived, worked and studied in Hong Kong, the US an New Zealand. Currently I'm doing my PhD full time while still writing part-time. My research topic is Transcultural fandoms in China and Hong Kong: Gender, sexuality, celebrity politics and fan activism. It consists five case studies on political, celebrity and media fandoms in Hong Kong and mainland China.
