Biography
Rebecca McCarroll (née McLean) is a Professional Teaching Fellow and the Public Health Domain Lead for the Nutrition and Dietetics Programme in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. She studied nutrition and dietetics at the University of Otago and worked as a Dietitian at the Heart Foundation before completing a Master of Health Sciences at the National Institute for Health Innovation (NIHI). Her thesis explored the effect of the SaltSwitch smartphone app on purchases of lower-salt foods for patients with cardiovascular disease. In addition to her teaching role at the University of Auckland, Rebecca also works as a Public Health Dietitian in Planning and Funding at Waitemata and Auckland District Health Boards. Her role is predominantly focused on nutrition policy and childhood obesity.
