Biography

Vijayalakshmi is currently pursuing her Doctoral studies in the field of Bioengineering in Placenta Research. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, India and Master's degree in Nanotechnology from Bharti Vidyapeeth Deemed University, Pune, India.

Research | Current

Her doctoral research is on studying and analysis of feto-placental vasculature across the species with hemochorial placenta to better understand how the placental structures impact its function and to develop In-silico techniques to aid efficient clinical translation of potential therapies for Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR) which affects nearly 10% of the global population from animal studies to human clinical trials.

She is working in placenta modelling group led by  Dr Alys Clark and  Dr Jo James at ABI and Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, FMHS.
