Miss Zoe Tasma
BSC Biomedical Science, Hons 1st Class
Zoe is a PhD candidate under the supervision of Dr Christopher Walker and Professor Debbie Hay. The Hay research laboratory focuses on characterising G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). Zoe's PhD project is investigating the PAC1 receptor, a GPCR, looking in particular for signalling bias. Characterisation will be done in a transfected cell line and primary rat spinal cord and dorsal root ganglia cultures. This research aims to help clarify the pathways activated by the PAC1 receptor in pain signalling and hopefully contribute to the development of treatments for chronic pain.
